SCHOOL BUS TRAVEL –
The country bus system is coordinated by the Beaufort Secondary College All enquiries should be directed to them.
The town bus is a resource available to the school and is ran by Christian Buses. No money, to travel on the town bus, is to be paid to the school. Parents are to organise the pick up and drop off points with Christian Buses.
CODE OF CONDUCT FOR STUDENTS
Parents and students are required to become fully aware of this code.

WALKING TO SCHOOL

CODE OF CONDUCT FOR STUDENTS
Parents and students are required to become fully aware of this code.
- Students must travel on the bus to which they have been allocated.
- Students must wait at bus stops and interchange points in an orderly fashion. On arrival of the bus students must not approach the vehicle until it has fully stopped.
- No student is to attempt to board or leave a bus while the vehicle is in motion.
- Students must enter and leave the vehicle in a quiet and orderly fashion.
- On alighting from a bus, students must immediately move away from the vehicle and wait on the same side of the road until the bus has departed from the stop.
- Students must not attempt to cross the road until the bus has cleared the stop and they have an uninterrupted view of the road in both directions.
- It is not expected that students will remain silent for the duration of the journey, however, students should talk quietly and refrain from calling out to passing traffic or the driver. At times it may be necessary for students to comply with the driver’s request for absolute quiet in the interests of safety. For example, a driver may request silence as the bus approaches a level crossing.
- Boisterous conduct or any action which may distract the driver’s attention is not permitted. This includes loud yelling or making sharp loud noises.
- Students should not talk to the driver while the bus is in motion.
- While travelling any student allocated to a seat must remain seated for the duration of the journey.
- No student should, under any circumstances, have any part of his/her body protruding from the bus.
- No student is permitted to throw litter or any other object from the bus.
- Fighting, harassment of other students and foul or abusive language will not be tolerated under any circumstances.
- Vandalism of any sort will not be tolerated. Students who vandalise buses may be held responsible for the cost of repairs.
- Smoking is not permitted on a school bus.
- The school must be advised in writing of any variations to travel arrangements and a bus form lodged with the school. If no contact is made the student will be placed on their usual bus.
- Children must not get off the bus other than at their stop.
BIKE RIDERS
- Students under nine years of age are encouraged not to bring their bicycles into the school grounds. Road Safety Authorities have found that students under this age have not developed the perception or skills to ride safely on the roads.
- Children must wear approved safety helmets when riding bicycles. Any student not wearing an approved helmet may not bring his/her bicycle into the schoolgrounds.
- Bikes are to be stored in the bike shelter..
- All necessary hand signals and road laws
- To dismount or remount their bikes at the end of the Primary School track. Bikes must be walked in the school yard and in this track.
- That a car needs plenty of room if it needs to pass a bicycles.
- Full concentration is needed when riding a bicycle.
WALKING TO SCHOOL
- Students who walk home must go straight home from school.
- The school crossings and footpaths must be used where applicable and students should know the drill for crossing the road.
- The school has jurisdiction over students on their way to school and their way home after school.
- Action will be taken against students who annoy or interfere with others on the way to or from school.
