School uniform can be bought through Beleza School Uniforms in Doveton Street Ballarat.
Grade 6 tops will be organised and purchased through Crocodile Creek T-Shirts (T-Shirt) and Rufcuts Ballarat (jumper)
Enforcement of Dress Code
In line with the school’s discipline policy, the Principal may request a meeting with parents concerning the reasons for a student not wearing school uniform. At this meeting the Principal and the parents will seek to resolve the issue.
If this meeting is unsuccessful it may be necessary to seek assistance of the Student Welfare Consultant at a further meeting.
- To ensure that students are dressed appropriately, comfortably, neatly and safely.
- To engender a sense of school spirit, unity and pride.
- To promote a sense of equality through a common uniform for all students.
- To promote self-esteem and a sense of pride in students’ personal appearance.
- The school dress code will be consistent with the DET Guidelines.
- The School Dress Code is compulsory for all students attending Beaufort Primary School.
- The school uniform will be mainly in the official school colours of navy and gold.
- There will be a reasonable choice in uniform items.
- Major changes to the school uniform will only be made after extensive parent consultation through surveys and advice from the Parents and Friends Club.
- The wearing of bucket hats is compulsory in Terms 1 and 4. There may be extensions to compulsory hat wearing in relation to seasonal conditions.
- Only students in school uniform will represent the school on formal occasions.
- Parents seeking exemptions for religious, cultural, health, economic or other reasons should apply to the Principal in writing.
- Where valid reasons exist, modifications to the uniform for an individual student may be made.
- The dress code and school uniform details should be communicated to all parents.
- Children should not be excluded from normal school activities for non-compliance with the dress code, but may be excluded from special activities.
- The wearing of extraneous jewellery and makeup is strongly discouraged. Extreme or fad or inappropriate hairstyles may be banned.
- The school will develop mechanisms to assist families experiencing economic hardship to obtain school uniform for their children.
- The Principal is responsible for sanctions in relation to the violation of the Student Dress Code.
Health and Safety Considerations:
- Hair, which is shoulder length or longer should be tied back. Coloured hair spray or other hair colouring should not be worn to school. Hair spray cans should not be brought to school.
- Students with pierced ears may wear sleepers or studs to school, but dangling type earrings should not be worn, as they pose an injury risk.
- Students should wear hats in the playground, on excursions and camps etc. during terms 1 and 4.
- Shoes should be safe and suitable for participation in the full range of school activities.
- Thongs must not be worn to school (except for use at the pool during swimming programs).
- If a student wears clothing which is inappropriate for a particular activity, the student may be excluded from that activity for his/her own safety.
